I almost missed this!! This was my 4th attempt (over 2 days) to see the mantas at this cleaning station off the coast of Pohnpei Island. 🇫🇲 The first 3 times I saw a few — but either the visibility was bad, the current was way too strong, or the mantas were hovering at 20 meters so I couldn’t hang around for more than a few seconds. Honestly I was thrilled that I saw any at all! After the 3rd attempt I was exhausted & blistered… and almost called it a day. But then the guides from pohnpei_surf_club suggested we check out an area nearby — no expectations, but maybe, just maybe…. THIS was the magic that awaited us there. 🤯 We spent an hour swimming with this group of about 15 curious, playful mantas, as they swam and danced around us. No other boats or divers, just us and the mantas. I felt like the luckiest & happiest person in the world at that moment.
