The other day I read something that said: “there are places that remind you there’s a whole world beyond tourism.”
Something about that really clicked — and made me appreciate the remote, little-known corners of the world we’ve reached on this sailing trip. ⛵️
Out here, in these tiny, faraway specks of earth, that statement feels tangible: islands that don’t even show up on maps; vibrant coral reefs; unspoiled landscapes shaped by smoking volcanoes & trees overflowing with coconuts; beaches where not a single footprint or piece of trash marks the shore.
They are paradises that likely won’t see more than a few (if any) tourists per year.
To me, it’s been comforting to be reminded that despite the noise of over-development & over-touristed destinations, there are still infinite treasures on this planet that we’ll never even know about.
Places that really only exist only for themselves.
How special to get a brief glimpse at them. 🫶🏼🌏
