Cambodia is one of the most mine-affected countries in the world â the result of decades of war and conflict (including a civil war under the Khmer Rouge regime, and the Vietnam War during which the United States dropped over 26 million explosives on Cambodian soil đ).
There are over 1000 square kilometers of land that still havenât been cleared of explosives⌠which causes dozens of casualties every year & has huge economic consequences, especially for people in rural areas.
