Welcome to…SOCOTRA! 🇾🇪
I’ve dreamt of visiting this place for years — a remote little Yemeni island, located 130 miles (240 kilometers) off the coast of Somalia in the Indian Ocean, plop in the middle of one of the most critical sea shipping routes between the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea.
But thankfully, Socotra has retained its distinctive chilled-out culture and language, and stayed shielded from the conflicts on the mainland. It’s been one of the most peaceful, safe, and welcoming places I’ve ever visited. I know this isn’t how Western media represents this part of the world so I really want to emphasize this. ❤️🤗
If you’ve never heard of Socotra, then I’m happy I can introduce you to this beautiful island, its other-worldly landscapes, and the unbelievably kind & hospitable people that make it so special.
If you’ve already had Socotra on your bucket list, then I hope this gets you even more excited to make the trip.
I’ll never forget this time in Socotra, camping with...
