At the start of this week, 32 countries ratified the High Seas Treaty. Now, we’re at 50! That’s the power of global gatherings like #UNOC3. The energy and momentum moves governments to act. We are so close. Just 10 more ratifications to go. The high seas make up nearly half of our planet, but right now, they’re wide open to exploitation. These are waters beyond national jurisdiction, and without a legal framework in place, there’s nothing stopping destructive industries from pushing in. It’s the classic “tragedy of the commons” — when something belongs to no one, it becomes a race to exploit. That’s what the High Seas Treaty, led by highseasalliance, is aiming to address.
