Who else likes left to right breaking putts?! My key to being comfortable and confident over these types of putts (as a right-handed golfer) is balance and staying solid to the ground.
It’s easy to let your weight shift to your toes when your feet are above the ball. My tendency is to slide away from the ball and rock back in to my heels on takeaway to find my balance. Unfortunately, this causes my eye line to shift to the right, which then reroutes my putting stroke. *Insert two-way miss.
When I’m practicing left to right breaking putts, especially those that break severely, I make sure to counter balance the slope by pushing my hips back slightly. When my weight feels distributed 50/50 across my heels and toes, I know I’m in the right place to keep my balance. Now my upper body can work against my lower body correctly.
