1. Japan is light years ahead when it comes to this company called Yamato Transport. Let’s say on Monday you’re in Tokyo but on Wednesday you’ll be traveling to Kyoto and don’t want to travel with your large and heavy luggage. You can drop off said luggage at the front desk of your hotel on Monday and by the time you get to Kyoto, it will be in your room upon check in. It’s a complete game changer when it comes to multi-city trips and I really hope this company goes global!
2. Another great option is to leave your bag or luggage at the many lockers offered around most cities. Typically you can find them at large metro stations!
3. If you happen to need to do laundry, you can find high speed coin laundry stores which cost about 700 yen for a 4 kilogram load that takes 50 minutes. For this you do not need to bring any laundry detergent. I also used a hotel’s washer and dryer which did not require any detergent either.
