Former Massachusetts State Police Trooper Michael Proctor, the lead investigator in the Karen Read case, was fired from the Massachusetts State Police in March 2025 after highly offensive text messages he sent about Read on his personal phone surfaced. In his first public interview after his firing, Proctor addresses those text messages: “They don’t define me as a person.
