🐠 Beneath the surface surrounding California’s Channel Islands lies a world teeming with life. On our recent expedition with Blancpain1735, we explored this underwater wonderland and collected vital data to help protect it. But this epicenter of biodiversity is under threat. Set gillnets—mile-long nets weighted to the seafloor like invisible fencing—entangle sea lions, whales, sharks, seabirds and other marine animals critical to the ecosystem. That’s why Oceana is campaigning to address the impacts these nets have on wildlife in waters around the Channel Islands. And there’s good news: a bill authored by Assemblymember Steve Bennett to protect this incredible biodiversity from set gillnets just passed the California Assembly! We’ll keep pushing until this critical legislation becomes law, and ocean wildlife gets the protection it deserves. šŸ’™ #Blancpain1735 #BlancpainOceanCommitment #FiftyFathoms #BlancpainFiftyFathoms
