Hal (Jack Black) is a man obsessed with superficial beauty. After a life coach hypnotizes him, his perspective shifts, and Hal can only see a person's inner beauty reflected outwardly. This new vision leads him to meet Rosemary (Gwyneth Paltrow), a kind-hearted woman he perceives as stunningly beautiful despite her being obese. Rosemary, accustomed to poor treatment, initially suspects Hal's intentions. After giving him a second chance, they embark on a series of dates where Hal begins to fall deeply for the person she is inside. Will his love remain once the hypnosis wears off?
