The Virginia Opera was first organized in 1974 by a group of Norfolk, Virginia community volunteers. To celebrate its 50th year they commissioned a brand new opera that highlighted a Virginia story and featured a Virginia composer. ‘Loving v Virginia’ premiered in April with showings in Norfolk, Fairfax and Richmond Va. It’s the story of two people that simply want to lived married and raise a family in their community of Caroline Co. However the laws of 1950’s Virginia would need to change, first.
