Two CHS Companions service groups left Western New York this weekend, traveling to serve communities in need. In the CHS Companions Program, juniors respond to the Ignatian call to service via immersion trips. The groups departed for Montana (Thursday) and Maine (today). Accompanying the students to Montana are Director of Campus Ministry Fr. Charles Frederico, S.J., and Campus Minister Dr. Joe Amuso; the Maine group is led by math teacher Anne Lipp-Read and Dean’s Office Manager Maria Pieroni. Canisius students have also participated in immersion trips to Mexico, Puerto Rico, New Orleans, West Virginia and Virginia during recent school years. There are additional trips in the winter and spring. In the Companions program, each student is invited to grow in self-knowledge through an experience of service to and solidarity with the marginalized.
