Kandefer only walked one and had six strikeouts, many of which were inning-enders against the Long Island champion Firebirds. Canisius will play for the New York State Catholic High Schools Athletic Association championship game at 4 p.m. Saturday at Jack Kaiser Stadium at St. John’s University in Queens. CHS will play the winner of the second semifinal between NYC winner Iona Prep and Brooklyn/Queens champion Archbishop Molloy (being played now).
