The 2024 Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic drew over 8,000 fans for the season-opening, two-day high school football showcase held Aug. 29-30 at Tom Adams Field on the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit. On Thursday in the game opener, Southgate Anderson clinched a last-minute victory against Trenton 27-26. In the evening game, Warren De La Salle defeated Davison, 21-3. On Friday, Belleville and Quarterback Bryce Underwood, the nation’s No. 1 recruit for the Class of 2025, came back to beat Clarkston, 35-28, in the final minutes of the game. Detroit King closed out the weekend with a win against Cleveland Heights, 25-21. This year’s showcase featured girls flag football for the first time, with the Birmingham Groves Falcons facing off against the Genesee Lady Wolves, with Groves emerging victorious, 32-6 Congratulations to all of this year’s competing teams! We look forward to another great event in 2025 as we celebrate XPKC’s 20th Anniversary!
