Just saying…
But also, if you’re a brand new parent, I want to add this: it took me almost two years of motherhood to get here.
We didn’t start daycare until my daughter was 15 months old, so for a long time I was a full-time mama and working full-time as a freelancer. I kept adventuring, but only on the terms that worked with a baby strapped to me (read: lots of hiking).
It took us a while to find our groove, to build support, and to create space in our lives where I could finally start doing things just for me again. And honestly, I only got there because I started to feel my spark fading and knew that wasn’t good for anyone.
Yes, I probably could have asked for help sooner (why is that so hard?), but when I finally did, I realized that making time for me actually made me a better mom.
For me, it’s climbing and time outside. For you, it might be something completely different. But whatever it is, make it a priority.
You still matter when you become someone’s parent.
