Built by Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT), the Gen 1 Raptor was the first factory truck engineered for high-speed off-road. It came with a widened stance, beefed-up frame, long-travel Fox shocks, and 35” tires—basically, a street-legal Baja truck. Early models had a 5.4L V8 (310 hp), but most remember the later ones with the legendary 6.2L V8 pushing 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. It wasn’t the fastest on paper—but it had unmatched presence and durability. Gen 2: 2017–2020 – The Twin Turbo Revolution Ford dropped SVT and went all-in with a new strategy. The Gen 2 Raptor was lighter thanks to an aluminum body and ran a 3.5L High Output EcoBoost V6 making 450 hp and 510 lb-ft—more torque than the Gen 1.
