Today, we’re excited to share our conversation with cinematographer Steve Yedlin (Season 2, Episode 72) in the latest episode of the Team Deakins Podcast. Steve returns to talk with us about deliverables and how we, as filmmakers, preserve authorial intent throughout post-production, and we swap our insights and exchange our concerns about maintaining our vision in a fragmented viewing landscape. Towards the end of our conversation, we discuss the economic realities of restoring older films, and Steve offers his best advice to any young (or older!) filmmaker feeling overwhelmed by the endless technical jargon.
We highly recommend anyone listening to watch Steve’s demonstration on HDR (which can be found on his website) for an even deeper investigation into the topics discussed in this episode. A link can be found in the description of the episode on your preferred podcast platform.
