After 1,010 games, 695 points, Stanley Cup Champion T.J. Oshie is hanging up the skates. 🥅 Earlier today, 38-year-old forward T.J. Oshie (tjoshie7) officially announced his retirement, closing the chapter on a remarkable 16-season NHL career with the St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals. Known for clutch performances and shootout heroics, the former assistant captain’s impact extended beyond the rink, often advocating for representation in sports and Alzheimer’s awareness. At age 15, Oshie reconnected with his Ojibwe (Chippewa) background through his father’s side and was gifted the Anishinaabemowin name “Keeway Gaaboo,” meaning “Coming Home.” Oshie says his time in Warroad, Minnesota (and playing for the high school’s Warriors team) as transformational in his journey. Help us congratulate tjoshie7 on an excellent career. Were you a fan?! 💭⤵️ (via nhl, tjoshie7, warroadboyshockey) #TJOshie #Retirement #Ojibwe #NativeAthletes
