AWOLNATION, Download Festival 2025 REVIEW: There’s something hypnotising about watching AWOLNATION craft soundscapes right in front of you. The building layers of throbbing synths, the patient chords ringing from the guitars, and the soft croons and gritty shrieks that Aaron Bruno can conjure all converge into an energy that is as intoxicating as it is outrageously entertaining to watch. Of course, ‘Run’ and ‘Sail’ are absolutely eternal, their world-beating stature and punishing intent receiving huge ovations, but it’s the reckless abandon of ‘Kill Your Heroes’, the convulsing chaos of ‘Hollow Moon’ and cheery yelps of ‘Not Your Fault’ that stick to the heart the most. It’s a set that solidifies AWOLNATION’s place once again as one of modern rock’s most endearingly talented assets.
