President Donald Trump will decide within the next two weeks whether to launch a U.S. strike on Iran, per a statement from White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
“Based on the fact that there’s a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” the president said in his statement.
After Israel's first strike on Iran's nuclear facilities a week ago, Trump said he gave Iran "chance after chance to make a deal" and warned of more death and destruction if a deal isn't made soon.
Leavitt told reporters that a deal with Iran must include "no enrichment of uranium" and reiterated that the country must not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.
