Let’s pack our picnic baskets and celebrate! The world’s first and Sweden’s only National City Park is turning 30 this year! 🎉
The Royal National City Park spans several islands 🏝️ and municipalities in the Stockholm area, including Djurgården, the Haga Park and the mini-archipelago of Fjäderholmarna. With an area of 27 square kilometres, it's almost eight times bigger than Central Park in New York.
The park is home to:
🌸 800 species of flowering plants
🦜 100 bird species
🏰 4 royal palaces
🏛️ various museums
Sweden's Royal National City Park is protected under the Swedish Environmental Code. It means that any new development or new buildings must not harm the park’s natural environment or historical landmarks.
