Don’t buy a Ring or Blink camera 🙅‍♂️ Okay, a bit of an exaggeration. But seriously, there are better options out there. The thing about Ring and Blink are they are proprietary and carry a heavy brand name under them. This makes them (relatively) more expensive, and only compatible in full with Alexa devices. Also, you have no options to view saved footage unless you’re a part of the subscription plan. I realized for about the same price as a simple Blink camera, I could pick up this Tapo camera for a little more, get more features, integrate with both Alexa AND Google, AND access saved footage through a microSD card over the web. It felt like a no brainer. I will say, the one thing that Google Nest has over all of these is face recognition. You can set it up so that it detects specific people, and will notify you when those people show up. I’m hoping TP-Link will add this feature sometime soon.
