#NHLPartner My goal as a father has always been simple: get my kids as close as possible to greatness. I want them to see it, feel it, believe it’s possible—because once you see it, it’s harder to doubt yourself.
Truth is, I was never really into hockey growing up. I didn’t see many Black players, so I didn’t see myself in the game. But fatherhood has a way of opening doors you didn’t even know were closed. My kids fell in love with the game, and instead of standing back, I leaned in with them.
Then the nhl showed up. First, they brought the Stanley Cup to our house. Weeks later, they brought our whole family to Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final. Full tour. Oilers practice. Reunited with Stanley. A moment that said: you belong here too.
Now? We’re officially a hockey family. And my kids know there’s no space they can’t walk into.
