ethanvernon00 showed he’s in good form on the opening day of baloisebelgiumtour, sprinting to third place after a textbook display of teamwork.
Once the breakaway of the day was caught, the IPT train didn’t leave the front of the peloton until the flamme rouge, when the battle for final positions kicked off amongst the sprinters.
Vernon remained well positioned at the front as the kick up to the finish line approached, but wasn’t able to match Tim Merlier’s speed, instead crossing the line in third place, with Juan Sebastian Molano in between.
“It was a really impressive display of teamwork today from all of the team,” said Vernon. “We hit the front almost 15km to go and stayed there right till the end. I am super happy with how we rode today as a group and it sets us up well for the next two sprint stages.”
