Something I’ve learned about myself on the Pacific Crest Trail, and specifically in the Sierra section, is that I really like route finding. I have thoroughly enjoyed the parts of the trail where there really is no trail, and you have to pick your way across snow and rock to figure out the best and safest way forward, like on the high mountain passes or even across bloated creeks. I find myself a little disappointed when these parts end and the trail is straightforward and simple.
