Tuscaloosa Police and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office were called to the scene of the Texaco gas station at Skyland Blvd. around 4:15 p.m., where they found the victim, identified as Roy Lamar Curry Jr. Curry, in critical condition. Despite offering lifesaving measures, Curry died at the scene. Other employees at the scene told investigators that a former employee, 22-year-old Tyshawn Laquan Thompson, had come to the business and shot Curry for unknown reasons before stealing a vehicle and driving off. Cyber Intelligence Units tracked the vehicle and found Thompson near Batesville, Mississippi.
