We know football players at all levels are big, strong, and fast, but just how strong do you need to be to play D1 football?
Strength is definitely contextual and no weight room exercise will inherently make
you a better football player, but we can enhance qualities that are represented on the field.
Here are some some strength standards for football players that you should try to reach relative to your body weight;
Back Squat: 2x BW
Bench: 1.75x BW
Clean: 1.5x BW
Establishing a baseline of strength for any athlete can help them identify their strengths and weaknesses.
Aiming to achieve these š strength standards can increase rate of force development, speed, and reduce the likelihood of common overuse injuries; remember, weak things break!
