In 1886, Irish immigrant David L. Clark began selling candies out of a horse-drawn wagon. By 1920, the D.L. Clark Candy Co. was producing over 150 kinds of candy, including the Clark Bar. That same year, Clark purchased 5435 Dunmoyle St. in Squirrel Hill, built in 1907, from its original owners. Clark lived there until his death in 1939. His second wife, Carrie Snitger Clark, lived there until her passing in 1963. The six-bedroom, 5½-bath home with 6,876 square feet of living space, in-ground pool and a three-car garage with one-bedroom apartment is now on the market for $3.5 million.
