Scientists and engineers from Pitt and @carnegiemellon got together for a first look at new pictures from the largest camera ever built. The @rubin_observatory is home to the DOE-LSST Camera and it has turned its sights on the sky. Together, we are using these images to help influence breakthroughs in global scientific endeavors.
The full image contains 10 million galaxies, that’s roughy 0.05% of the galaxies it will observe over the next ten years. The goal is to create the most detailed timelapse of the universe ever created.
