This item is located the first floor of our current temporary exhibit, "Art, Protest, & the Archives." It is from “The Black Panther 2" no. 1 and published in Oakland in March 1968. The Panthers leaned in a more artistic direction about the need to abandon nonviolent tactics at a rally in Oakland, employing music, dance, and the radical chic of the Black aesthetic to great effect in the campaign to free Huey Newton.
