The Selby Ave streetcar line was built in 1888 to connect people living in the Cathedral Hill neighborhood to downtown St. Paul. The two-track Selby Ave tunnel opened in 1907, and the last streetcar passed through it less than half a century later in 1954. Today, the exit for the tunnel has been paved over, but you can still see remnants of the entrance just below the Cathedral of St. Paul.
