As global data demands continue to rise, researchers have successfully demonstrated precise optical clock signal transmission using multicore fiber. Multicore fiber consists of multiple light-guiding cores packed into a single strand, significantly enhancing capacity for various applications, including streaming, finance, and artificial intelligence. Previous demonstrations of stabilized fiber links over long distances relied on dark fiber or specialized equipment. However, with multicore fiber, the research team could send outbound light through one core and return light through another.
