#repost aarinmichelewilliams Recently, I was telling a friend, and fellow Black woman attorney — it’s really amazing to know I reached the dream I set. I wanted to be a civil rights attorney for as long as I could remember. I had a clear commitment ~ use the privileges of my education to help Black communities thrive.
And lookie here ~ I’m doing JUST THAT.
Unfortunately I could imagine a time where people were again snatched off the street; Black women and babies died due to the needless care of systems, Black men found it hard to survive in their own neighborhoods; tyrants ran our country under false promises and commitments only to the whitest and richest. These stories already line our history books.
In moments like this,
#lawyers must decide who we are going to be. For me, that means speaking truth even when it’s inconvenient. And showing up not just as an attorney — but as a
#Black #woman carrying the
#wisdom and hopes of past and future
#generations.
