This #MajorMonday, we're featuring art with a specialization in furniture design and woodworking! Students specializing in furniture design and woodworking, part of the applied design emphasis in the art major, develop a mature artistic voice that blends intellectual, aesthetic, and technical skills with their career goals. The curriculum explores woodworking’s historical roots and contemporary relevance through hands-on experimentation, research, and critical inquiry. While grounded in traditional techniques, the program encourages innovation using materials like steel, glass, paper, concrete, and found objects. Coursework emphasizes both creative problem-solving and technical proficiency, supported by a fully equipped studio. Graduates have pursued careers in a range of fields, including positions at the San Diego Museum of Art, Illumina, Academy of Art University, and Etsy. Visit sdsu_art to learn more!
