Why I’ll Always Advocate for Youth Sports (Even Beyond Soccer)
People see the pro athlete title now but the real transformation happened long before the paychecks.
If you’re a parent debating whether to enroll your child in soccer (or any sport), here’s my take: It’s not about creating an elite athlete. It’s about shaping resilient humans.
My first soccer season? I didn’t make the all-star team. That moment taught me how to fail, regroup, and try again and the next season? I made it. Track taught me that winning isn’t the only measure of success; effort and attitude are. Team sports showed me how to communicate, collaborate, and lead even when I disagreed with coaches or peers.
So if you’re on the fence: Yes, sign them up. Not because they might go pro, but because sports teach kids how to live.
