“Drexel athletes define what it means to be a winner on and off the playing fields,” says Amy Mallon, the Janet E. & Barry C. Burkholder Family Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Drexel University (drexelwbb). Since joining Drexel in 2004, Mallon has led the Drexel women’s basketball team to new heights. In 2024, the team won the CAA Championship and punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament, which pushed the program’s postseason streak to 10 years. On and off the court, Mallon instills school pride in her team and reminds them to embody “Dragon Energy,” defined as passion, dedication, strength, and the belief that anything is possible. “I have had so many memorable moments as a coach,” Mallon shares. “My favorite moment was this year — being part of the ring ceremony celebrating the 2024 CAA Champions.
