#PeopleofJSU: “JSU and Spectrum have played an amazing role in finding my identity and confidence as a queer person. Spectrum is an organization where I can be myself without judgment or fear. When I first came here I wasn’t sure about my identity, but being on a campus like Jackson State has shown me that I don’t have to hide who I truly am and who I want to be. I joined because I wanted to be a part of an organization that cared for people, had a supportive community and allowed you to be yourself. Spectrum gave me a family from another home, where I could connect with other people who share the same experience as me, especially around identity and acceptance. We help build trust through events, discussions and quality relationships. It’s helped me become a better person, leader and young adult.
