When Tyler Summitt got cut from his basketball team, he came home expecting some sympathy from his mom, Pat Summitt. But instead, she looked at him and said, "Son, you didn't work hard enough. I promise you, if you wear out both of those basketballs, you'll make the team."
Pat knew that to succeed, Tyler had to find his own drive. "I'll help you," she said, "but I will not start your engine. You must start your engine every day.”
With her words pushing him, Tyler hit the court with his basketballs, taking responsibility for the outcome. He learned that real progress comes from showing up, putting in the work, and staying hungry.
