It’s an uncomfortable conversation, but one worth having.
In my experience, I’ve worked with so many incredible parents and families who go above and beyond to support their children.
But, unfortunately, there is a small minority who, perhaps unknowingly, may be damaging their child’s development.
From over-coaching on the sidelines to putting too much pressure on performance, these actions can have long-lasting effects. Children need space to learn, grow, and enjoy the game, without the fear of disappointing their parents.
So, what can we do?
Be their biggest support! No matter what, make sure they know you’re always there to support them, regardless of how they play. Encourage them to try their best and share how proud you are of them before and after every match.
