Any year, roughly 100 high school girls lacrosse players from the Section 1 region are committed to play college lacrosse. Many are destined for Division I teams and some for the very best Division I teams.
The Westchester/Putnam area is no less than a hotbed for the sport. Below is just a sampling of the area's talent as reflected on The Journal News/lohud's Westchester/Putnam girls lacrosse all-star lists.
Multiple players who don't appear on the lists were good enough to have been considered with many underclassmen no doubt destined to make them in future years.
The ultimate prize ā Player of the Year ā was a tough choice among several players who were multiple-year stars with gaudy numbers and promising futures on the Division I collegiate level.
The winner is All-American Rowan Edson of Horace Greeley, a tireless, Energizer Bunny with a lethal shot and the knack for making teammates sharing the field with her better.
