Not every area high school girls lacrosse team is blessed with future collegiate talent at every position. It just sometimes seems that way.
The game is played at a high level on both sides of the Hudson River. It can be argued Rockland, which has only nine girls high school teams, has a disproportionate number of elite players, since four of nine public school All-American selections out of the four-county Section 1 area this season were from Rockland.
Rockland also had three of nine Academic All-American selections.
The four All-Americans were Kate Gould and Casey Cummings from Section 1 Class C champion Nyack and Michaela Fay and Jillian Terlizzi from Section 1 Class A champion and state runner-up Suffern. Gould, Fay and Terlizzi were repeat All-Americans.
All four players were considered for Journal News/lohud Rockland Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year with the junior Fay garnering the award for a second straight year.
