Sussex County overcame an early deficit to defeat the New York Boulders, 6-3, in the first game of a doubleheader at Clover Stadium in Pomona, New York.
A day removed from his 26th birthday, right-hander Billy Parsons (W, 6-1; 2.19 ERA) tossed a gem. He went six strong, allowing three runs on six hits, walking one, and striking out nine for his team-leading sixth win of the season. Reliever Matt Stil pitched a scoreless seventh for his fourth save.
Keenan O’Brien and Dom Johnson each drove in a pair of runs. Jordan Smith went 2-for-4, scoring two runs and knocking in another. Sean Roby Jr. crossed the plate three times. Hunter D’Amato had a 3-for-5 night and scored a run.
Sussex County remains on top of the Frontier League’s Atlantic Conference East Division at 31-14 and extends their lead over the Boulders to 9.5 games.
