Pioneering the nation's first concentrated fire management training detail opportunity, the Redding Interagency Hotshot Crew shaped the future of fire management personnel. By providing early-career professionals with immersive experiences, they accumulated a wealth of expertise and training, compressing what would otherwise take years to acquire at their home units. The program operated as one of the Pacific Southwest Region's three Interregional Suppression Crews until 1980.
