Apple's "vintage" products list has a new entrant: the iPhone XS.
Apple adds a product to its vintage list five years after it officially stops selling it. For users, this means repairs at Apple Stores and Apple-authorized service providers are possible only if parts are still available. So, if you've got an iPhone XS, make sure you're taking good care of it.
Two years from now, the product will also be added to Apple's obsolete list. Once that happens, Apple will stop all hardware repairs, and even authorized providers won't be able to source parts. To that end, Apple just added the iPad 5 to the obsolete list.
Launched in 2018 with a powerful A12 chip and dual cameras, the iPhone XS was part of a trio that sold over 151 million units. The lower-cost iPhone XR actually outsold them all, with 70 million units moved by the end of 2019.
