An Anker power bank that was widely sold in the US has been recalled over the risk that it can explode or cause a fire. The recall, announced Thursday by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), involves the Anker PowerCore 10000, model number A1263. It covers 1,158,000 units that were sold in the US for about $27 between June 2016 and December 2022 via online retailers including Amazon, Newegg, and eBay. The CPSC says the lithium-ion batteries inside the power bank can overheat. “Anker has received 19 reports of fires and explosions,” the regulator says. “This includes two reports of minor burn injuries not requiring medical attention and 11 reports of property damage totaling over $60,700.” In response, the CPSC is urging all affected consumers to stop using the device and go through Anker’s recall website to receive a free replacement or a $30 gift card for use on Anker.com More at PCMag . . .. #anker #powerbank #technology #technews #recall #phonecharger #charger
