After 9/11, Angie felt a deep call to serve our country. When she turned 18, she joined the usarmy and served as as a bridge crew member, building and demolishing structures in dangerous combat zones, where she endured long days, extreme stress and constant risk.
Years of heavy lifting and trauma left her with chronic back pain and sciatic nerve injuries in her daily life - she eventually stopped asking others for help. But everything changed when she matched with
#ServiceDog Hansen.
Expertly trained, Hansen retrieves anything Angie drops. He opens drawers, picks up her cane and even helps with the laundry. Hansen also helped restore Angie’s self-reliance, connection and joy.
“Before Hansen, on a scale of one to ten, my independence was a three,” says Angie. “Now, it’s a nine. He’s always there — like an extra set of hands.”
