Bryan Kohberger agreed to plead guilty to murder in the deaths of Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves. He reportedly will receive four consecutive life sentences with an additional ten years for a burglary charge without the possibility of parole.
If the plea is accepted, a sentencing hearing will be scheduled. The plan for today is that Kohberger pleads guilty, but there are other possibilities. Firstly, the judge could reject the plea agreement. It is rare for this to happen, but if it does, Kohberger could withdraw the guilty plea.
Another possibility is that Kohberger does not plead guilty. Although he has agreed to plead guilty to murder, admission of guilt will not be placed upon Kohberger until he says that he pleads guilty.
