Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni said, "One thing I want to touch on, because it's something that I think a lot of people miss when it comes to what we're doing here. And these are large investigations, huge operations. You know, you saw it's over 500 law enforcement officers to participate. We're spending a lot of money. We're having a lot of very violent individuals. But what we struggle with here in the state of California is something that I want to put out there in the 58 sheriffs, myself included, have to deal with, is AB 109 and realignment, which happened, we'll say somewhere between 2005 and 2010. And during that time, we've slowly closed down prisons in the state of California. We've closed down prison beds and we've reduced the number of available prison beds."
