Heads up to parents heading downtown tomorrow for the Stampede parade: there are no splash parks or accessible water to cool off on or near the parade route this year. Olympic Plaza no longer exists and the water has not yet been turned on in Century Gardens Park for some reason. 1 of the 2 fountains at Central Memorial Park is operating but that's not for cooling off in.
The City of Calgary and Calgary Parks have just said to check their website for info but there is nothing to indicate why Century Gardens Park doesn't have water nor when it is expected to.
As far as I'm aware there are no publicly accessible places to refill water bottles either, other than businesses. There is a water fountain at Prince's Island Park (just behind the stage) but I don't know if it works anymore and that's a bit of a walk.
Port-a-potties have been placed along the parade route.
In addition, the Circle K on 5th avenue is no longer there. The Circle K on 1st ST SW is no longer there. Both 7-11's...
