From September 15th to October 15th, we celebrate Hispanic heritage month to honor and recognize the contributions and influence of Hispanic culture. September 15th was chosen as the starting point because it is the anniversary of independence of 5 Hispanic countries. It was first introduced as a commemorative week in 1968.
